    Key Takeaways

    • Ripple delivered most education funding in RLUSD, supporting classrooms through major nonprofit partnerships.
    • DonorsChoose funded 48,108 projects, with most serving schools in low-income communities.
    • Teach For America expanded stipends, tutoring, and blockchain education for students nationwide.

Ripple’s RLUSD Grant Shows One-Year Stablecoin Impact

Ripple published an insight on May 7 detailing how its $25 million education commitment reached classrooms across the U.S. during the first year after the original pledge. Ripple said most of the original funding was delivered in RLUSD, Ripple’s U.S. dollar-backed stablecoin, supporting DonorsChoose and Teach For America programs tied to classroom materials, teacher stipends, tutoring, and financial literacy resources.

The update focused on results from Ripple’s earlier Teacher Appreciation Week commitment rather than a new funding announcement. DonorsChoose received $15 million, helping fund 48,108 classroom projects across all 50 states. Teachers requested books, science kits, technology, and supplies directly through the platform. Ripple said 86% of funded projects served schools where more than half of the students come from low-income households. U.S.-based employees also directed $25,700 to 378 projects at 336 schools. The crypto firm stated:

“The majority of the $25 million was delivered in RLUSD, Ripple’s U.S. dollar-backed stablecoin, making this one of the largest stablecoin grants to nonprofits in history, and a practical demonstration that crypto-native philanthropy can operate at real scale.”

Recognition followed the classroom funding. The DonorsChoose partnership won the Community Voice Award and a Bronze award for Best Education Initiative at the Anthem Awards. It was also nominated for Best Education Initiative at the Halo Awards, extending visibility for Ripple’s stablecoin-backed education grant beyond the digital asset industry.

Teach For America Expands the Education Rollout

Through Teach For America, Ripple’s $10 million commitment supported under-resourced schools during the first year. The funding helped provide direct stipends for 2,300 new teachers entering classrooms in the fall. Those first-year teachers reached 141,600 students, while TFA’s broader corps delivered financial literacy resources to 270,600 students.

Crypto education also became part of the broader rollout. Ripple said the partnership launched a Blockchain Bootcamp series at U.S. high schools, giving students hands-on exposure to cryptocurrency and blockchain concepts. TFA’s Ignite tutoring program reached 6,538 students across fall and spring cohorts. Ripple stated:

“What has changed is what we know is possible. Teachers supported, bootcamps launched, students learning, the result of two organizations that knew exactly how to put resources to work, and a team at Ripple that believed education is one of the most powerful investments we can make.”

A year after the original Teacher Appreciation Week commitment, Ripple framed the results around execution rather than a new pledge. The company said it was proud of what the first year made possible, citing supported teachers, funded classroom projects, and student programs delivered through nonprofit partners.
